5 signs you’re high maintenance

Being high maintenance is not necessarily a bad thing. Most often it simply means making your needs met first.

Kim Kardashian, Harry Styles, Dua Lipa and Elon Musk are some of the biggest celebrity spenders. They buy homes on different continents, super cars, designer fashion—and private jets. They enjoy their success, because they work hard for their money, and are unapologetic about enjoying the best things in life.

Are they high maintenance? Sure. High maintenance doesn’t always mean diva behavior; most often it simply means putting a priority on having your needs met, setting very high goals for yourself, and having high expectations of other people too.

What about you, are you high maintenance? Here are 5 signs that you are.

1. You are updated on all the “best of” lists.

From the top 10 restaurants to the 7 habits of successful people, you know them all. Whether it’s your output at work or the clothes you wear, you are only about absolute quality. You hate mediocrity and abhor laziness.

2. Confidence is your best accessory.

And you wear it well, 24/7. Your take-charge attitude is impressive and disarming. Your confidence is contagious, you know what you want and you are not afraid to get it. When faced with failure, you simply get up and resolve to do better. There’s no one stopping you.

3. You live by the motto “the devil is in the details.”

“Puwede na” is anathema to you. You don’t stop until things are exactly right. Some of your colleagues may find your attention to detail difficult but they cannot discount the quality and success of your every project. You have a purpose in life and are bent on fulfilling it.

4. Your 11th commandment is “Thou shalt not take me for granted.”

Casual dating and “it’s complicated” are not for you. You want to know exactly where you stand in a relationship because you give your best and you know you deserve nothing less to be given the best, too.

5. Success is your imprint.

Anything short of success is mediocrity and unacceptable. You are most likely feared and respected—and rightly so. You invest in your personal development because the path to an amazing life may be a difficult one but it is the only road that exists for you.

6. You’re taking care of your health and wellbeing.

You recognize that when you want to live your best life, you need to be in the best health. You’re exercising and eating healthy to safeguard your physical wellbeing and you’re looking after your emotional and mental health too.
