System Developer - Backend Application

Overview

Due to business growth, FWD Life Insurance Corp is looking for additional Systems Developer who will focus on backend application.

The successful candidate is responsible for development and implementation of FWD business system that will support business needs.

The role’s primary focus will be on the development of standard web services and backend programs to form part of the SOA architecture and other application to support business operations and strategies. He/she will conduct systems analysis, technical design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance support.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in system analysis, technical design and prepare program specifications. Aligning the systems with FWD’s business requirements.
  • Systems development and enhancements to support business needs
  • Assists in testing and production environment setup.
  • Participates in system testing (SIT) and supports user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Systems implementation
  • Production support
    • Submissions of “Business as Usual” (BAU) Requests
    • Systems troubleshooting
      • Determine and execute appropriate actions to restore service.
      • Verify the resolution is successful.
  • Provides system solutions where applicable
  • Prepare user procedure manual
  • Gather user technical requirements
  • Preparation of management reports

Skills & Experience Required

  • Graduate of any 4-year IT course.
  • At least 3 years JAVA J2EE development working experience (Client server, web application, web services)
    • Knowledgeable in developing APIs (ReST, SOAP)
    • Experience in Spring Framework, AngularJS; Hibernate Framework; JQUERY
  • Must be knowledgeable in MSSQL - Transact SQL
  • Familiar with Out Systems development tool
  • Knowledge in the following platform is an advantage: VB .NET, JSB, ESB, Web Services, Websphere MQ, Infosphere (DataStage&CDC)
  • Experience in mobile system implementation, Business Process Management (BPM) and Business Rule Engine (BRE) deployment would be an added advantage
  • Demonstrate good concept and hands-on experience in system development methodology and life cycle. 
  • With mobile application development experience is an advantage.
  • Working experience in a life insurance company is preferred
  • Hands-on experience in life insurance system development and implementation is an advantage
  • Good analytical and problem solving skill.  Should be able to identify critical/priority incidents
  • With good organization skills and be able to work on multiple priorities/tasks
  • With good knowledge in RDBMS concepts
  • With good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-initiative and pro-active.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • With good communication skills
  • Can work on-call/remote
