FWD Philippines offers novel anti-terrorism insurance plan

MANILA - While most insurance plans exclude death or serious injury from acts of terrorism, a pioneering insurance product was recently launched to cover people who could be impacted by such attacks anywhere in the country and the world.

FWD Peace Plan offers relevant, affordable financial protection in the event of death or serious disability, providing much needed peace of mind against acts of terrorism, according to a press briefer provided by FWD Life Philippines.

The innovative Peace Plan was unveiled even as President Duterte in recent speeches has reminded the public that next to illegal drugs, corruption and terrorism are the biggest threats to their well-being.

FWD Peace will allow Philippine nationals and residents "to live free and without fear, if the unthinkable happens and they or their immediate family members get caught up in any act of terror," said the FWD briefer.

The company noted the suitability of the plan to the millions of overseas Filipino workers, who are exposed to random acts of terrorism in their host countries.

"The Philippines is also known for its millions of overseas workers living and working all over the world and, more recently, home of globe-trotting Filipino adventure-seekers who travel in and out or around the country. Whether traveling locally or globally for employment or pleasure, Filipinos and Philippines residents are now potentially more exposed to the risk of terrorist incidents, and can be physically and financially adversely affected if they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," said FWD Life Philippines, which describes itself as the country’s fastest-growing life insurance company.

Individuals aged 18 and above, can avail themselves of the Personal Peace plan at P2,000, and those who wish to extend coverage to family members (legal spouse and children under the age of 18) may opt for Family Peace at only P3,000.

Peace provides P1-million coverage to each individual covered under the plan for one year, and can be renewed annually. Purchasing the product is simple, hassle-free, and only takes a few minutes online, irrespective of age and without the need for any medical test.

“The nature of the risk we face in today’s world is constantly changing but with Peace, FWD offers Filipinos and Philippine residents financial peace of mind from terrorism, wherever they may be in the world,” FWD Philippines President and CEO Peter Grimes said. “We can’t stop acts of terrorism from happening but we can and should be financially prepared in case the unthinkable happens.”

Grimes added: “We believe that with the cover and benefits that our Peace plans provide, FWD is communicating a more positive and inspirational message, as it’s not always easy to talk about terrorism without causing undue worry. With FWD Peace, we’re standing for the exact opposite of terror, empowering our customers to be resilient and carry on with living their lives, in the knowledge that FWD has them covered.”

FWD Head of Marketing Roche Vandenberghe said the company has "priced Peace with extremely affordable premiums that makes Peace affordable to everyone. Applications need only minimal requirements and we are offering it online, so Filipinos can easily, conveniently, and safely purchase it for themselves and their loved ones through our secure e-commerce website.”
