Senior Underwriter I


FWD Life Insurance Corporation is looking for additional Senior Underwriter I due to business growth. The successful candidate is responsible for underwriting of new business cases (both individual and group business ), and policies for amendment or reinstatements.


  • Perform risk appraisal and underwriting decision  in accordance to company-set guidelines , procedures and within the business unit’s defined service commitment level  as follows :
  1. Sum at risk of up to Php 10 million for life and supplementary riders  
  2. Make  an underwriting decision  from Standard , substandard cases up to total mortality ™ rating of   200% for basic life , up to 2X for Accident and Waiver of Premium supplementary riders , and up to 1.75X for health riders without secondary approval and postpone or decline with secondary approval
  • Prepare appropriate correspondences for applications with requirements, or other new business or underwriting related communications and monitor compliance
  • Liaise with reinsurers ,medical service provider network and other third party service providers
  • Perform AMLA and FATCA tagging
  • Perform Medical Impairment Data (MID)  search, new data entry and verification
  • Prepare reports as assigned to him/her by supervising head
  • Initiate the refund process for declined/postponed /cancelled/withdrawn  applications
  • Assess and evaluate reinstatement or amendments to applications based on underwriting authority level
  • Draft or revise underwriting forms 
  • Assist junior underwriters
  • Prepare test case data and perform  User-Acceptance-Test (UAT) activities
  • Benchmark on new business and underwriting practice as required
  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by supervising head

Skills & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, in any field
  • Medical underwriter with minimum 5 year life underwriting experience on variable life , traditional and health products
  • Passed basic LOMA and underwriting  courses
  • With attendance in  local  underwriting seminars
  • Proficient in Microsoft/computer  applications
  • Good in English communication-oral and written
  • Flexible and can adjust to automated process

  • Willing to work on shifting hours
  • Willing to work in BGC, Taguig City
  • Willing to render overtime work including weekends and holidays as necessary
