Product Specialist

Overview

  • Support development of new product concepts through Customer & Distributor research (focus groups, online surveys, etc…) and competitor research
  • Support development of Product Specifications for new products
  • Support development of Gate 2 Product Approval Report
  • Provide support in the review of the Business Requirements Specifications (BRS) for new product implementation
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) support for the implementation of new products and initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Design research briefs and questionnaires
  • Source competitor information using personal contacts and publicly available information
  • Provide support in identifying regulatory constraints that may impact the proposed product design
  • Prepare summary of researched information for product concept proposal (Gate One Product Concept paper)
  • Gather technical inputs / issues / clarifications from other business units on the Product Specifications document
  • Prepare summary of technical clarifications for discussion of the Senior Manager / Assistant Product Manager with the different business units
  • Assist the Senior Manager / Assistant Product Manager in reviewing the technical accuracy / consistency of the Gate 2 PAR with the Product Specifications
  • Coordinate with the IT Business Analysts on reviewing the technical requirements of the product design with business operational requirements
  • Create test scenarios and cases in the UAT of product features/parameters set-up and perform UAT product parameter validation
  • Perform UAT on the quality of the layout and wordings in the PDF and tablet display of the proposal, and ensure consistency with the IC-approved layout and wordings
  • Perform UAT on the Policy Pack printing and ensure completeness, correctness and consistency in the output / values among documents in the Policy Pack (contract provision, policy data page, proposal, application form, RPQ)
  • Assist the Senior Manager / Assistant Product Manager in reviewing the technical accuracy / consistency of documents for Gate Three Regulatory Filing (proposal layout, contract provisions, policy data page, application form)
  • Prepare and coordinate with other departments on the completion of the Gate Four Pre-Launch Checklist; monitor the status of Gate Four activities that are for Day Two implementation
  • Assist Senior Manager / Assistant Product Manager in product technical queries during training sessions for distribution and home office support, distribution leaders focus group, distribution rallies and the like
  • Coordinate with business units on the implementation / resolution of Day Two issues for the preparation of the Gate Five Post Launch Review document
  • Assist in the minute-taking and monitoring of action items during meetings of the Proposition Management Committee.

Skills & Experience Required

  • University graduate (with background in marketing or actuarial)
  • Three years of product development  or marketing experience
  • Preferable with experience in both Individual (Variable and Traditional Life) and Group products
  • Innovative thinker
  • Proven analytical skills and able to provide recommendations based on Customer insights, market and Distributor trends
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills (inc strong wordsmithing skills)
  • Effective negotiator & management of conflicting opinions & perspectives
  • Effective organisation & project management skills
  • Good teamwork and collaboration with other departments
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft applications
  • Developing knowledge & experience of the life insurance product development process, including the marketing, distribution, systems and regulatory interdependencies
