Product Specialist


The Product Development Specialist will report directly to the Product Manager and will be under the Product Development Team


  • Support development of new product concepts through Customer & Distributor research (focus groups, online surveys, etc…) and competitor research
  • Support development of Product Specifications for new products
  • Support development of Gate 2 Product Approval Report
  • Provide support in the review of the Business Requirements Specifications (BRS) for new product implementation
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) support for the implementation of new products and initiatives
  • Assist Regulatory filing preparation
  • Assist in Gate 4 pre-launch preparation
  • Assist in the Gate 5 post-launch review
  • Other activities that may be assigned from time to time

Skills & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Management, or any related degrees
  • At least one to three years of product development  or marketing experience
  • Preferably with experience in both Individual (Variable and Traditional Life) and Group products
  • Experience in Life Insurance Industry required
  • Innovative thinker
  • Proven analytical skills and able to provide recommendations based on Customer insights, market and Distributor trends
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills (inc strong wordsmithing skills)
  • Effective negotiator & management of conflicting opinions & perspectives
  • Effective organisation & project management skills
  • Good teamwork and collaboration with other departments
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft applications
  • Developing knowledge & experience of the life insurance product development process, including the marketing, distribution, systems and regulatory interdependencies
  • Passionate about developing products that are relevant, intuitive and straightforward to Customers and Distributors
  • Comfortable working in an environment where processes, roles & responsibilities are evolving and willing to positively contribute to this evolution
